BNU-HKBU United International College now invites candidates for the position of Dean of GS which is expected to be filled as soon as possible: 

Strategically located in the heart of China’s most vibrant Greater Bay Area, our campus is within the one-hour livelihood circle that encompasses Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Founded in 2005, UIC is jointly established by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University and enjoys a fine reputation as a pioneer in liberal arts education. The Graduate School (GS) was officially founded in December 2017, which is committed to facilitating international, interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations to advance research and postgraduate education. Serving as the central administration unit for postgraduate education, Graduate School works closely with divisions, academic staff and the standing committees of UIC so as to provide efficient support and guidance to students.

Role of the Dean of GS
  • The appointee should be a visionary leader and distinguished scholar, who is eligible for faculty appointment as a full professor, execute overall strategic enrollment planning for graduate education programmes at the College. 
  • Report to the President/Provost/Vice-President (Research) and is a key member of the Senior Management Team of the College, contributing to the advancement of UIC. 
  • Provide effective leadership to the Graduate School, ensure a high academic standard in teaching and research, foster strong academic partnerships and collaboration with other Faculties and Schools, and also with the Hong Kong Baptist University.
  • Oversee the overall operations of graduate programmes management, coordinate the operational, personnel, budgetary, and technological activities of the Graduate School.
  • Develop more initiatives to further develop and expand the postgraduate programmes. 
  • Strengthen programmes and policies that improve graduate student retention, accreditations, professional opportunities, and overall success. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the President/Provost/Vice-President (Research).

The Successful Candidate
  • A recognized PhD degree and equivalent professional qualification.
  • A successful track record of managerial and leadership experience in a higher education institution with a broad vision and strategic foresight as well as a strong commitment to the promotion and implementation of liberal arts education.  
  • Sufficient experience of planning, monitoring and reviewing the operation and development of a higher education institution, with a passion for innovation and creativity. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the changing higher education external and regulatory environment domestically and internationally are also necessary. 
  • It is highly preferred that the candidate possesses international working experience in the higher education context, and familiar with the education system in both Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong.

Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and medical insurance.


Appointment Terms
Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two or three years. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
