Job Description
The program of Chinese Culture and Global Communication (CCGC) in the Department of Communication at UIC invites applications from student-centered scholar-practitioners broadly trained in one or more of the following fields: 1) Classical and Contemporary Chinese Literature; 2) Sinology; and 3) Chinese History. There are opportunities to develop innovative pedagogy and collaborative research.

Job Requirement
All applicants should hold a PhD degree in Chinese studies with a commensurable research profile. Other requirements include a firm commitment to teaching and tutoring students as well as engaging in theory-based qualitative or quantitative research. Teaching responsibilities of 3 courses per semester may include courses related to sinology, Chinese literature, cross-cultural communication, Chinese and Asian history, and others of the applicant’s own interests. Preference will be given to candidates who can undertake original research leading to high-quality outcomes.

Appointment Terms
Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
