Job Description
The
programmne of Media and Communication Studies (MCOM) at UIC invites applications
from student-centered scholars broadly trained in one or more of the following
fields: 1) journalism; 2) digital media; and 3) media literacy. There are
opportunities to develop innovative pedagogy and contribute to the professional
and academic development of the University’s nationally recognized portfolio in
Communications

Job Requirement
All applicants should hold a PhD degree in Media and Communications with
an extensive and active research profile. Other requirements include experience
teaching and tutoring students at undergraduate and post-graduate level and PhD
supervision. Preference will be given to candidates who can undertake original
research leading to high-quality outcomes. Teaching responsibilities of 2-3 courses per semester may include courses related to media theory, media
literacy, digital media, international media, and others of the applicant’s own
interests. Research experience in political economy of media, cultural studies,
media literacy, and digital/new media-related areas will be an added asset.

Appointment Terms
Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
