Job Description
The appointee will be expected to conduct high-quality research and contribute to the development of the Transdisciplinary Digital Humanities (TDH) program within the Department of Languages and Cultures. The program is designed to guide students from foundational knowledge in the humanities—including language, culture, and communication—toward the practical application of digital tools. As students progress, they engage in project-based learning that fosters research, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.
In this context, the appointee’s responsibilities include:

Teaching and Curriculum Development: Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in English that integrate digital methodologies with humanities content. Design and develop innovative curricula that emphasize hands-on learning, enabling students to apply their knowledge through research, creative output, and real-world problem solving.

Student Mentorship: Supervise student research and capstone projects, guiding them in the development of digital humanities projects, digital products and services, or evidence-based recommendations for organizations.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Conduct high-quality interdisciplinary research, publish in internationally recognized journals, and foster collaborations within the University and with external academic, industry, and community partners.

Academic Service: Contribute to curriculum development, programme administration, student recruitment, external research funding, and the strategic development of the Department and the University.
Job Requirement
Applicants should possess a PhD in Digital Humanities, Digital Literary Studies, Digital History, Digital Media, AI and the Humanities, Applied Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Cultural Studies, or a related discipline.
Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of research and publication appropriate to the rank applied for, together with evidence of effective university-level teaching in English. The successful applicant should have expertise in integrating digital methodologies into humanities teaching and research, including digital storytelling, digital mapping, text and cultural analytics, natural language processing, data visualization, programming (e.g., Python or R), and digital content development, and be able to supervise interdisciplinary digital humanities projects.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in digital humanities projects and expertise in Digital Humanities, AI and the Humanities, Digital Storytelling, Digital Pedagogy, Language Technologies, Corpus Linguistics, Cultural Analytics, or related interdisciplinary fields.
Benefits and Appointment Terms
Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave, social insurance and commercial insurance. Appointments to these positions will initially be made on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
