Part-time Lecturer and above in Master of Arts in Communication-Interactive Media Studies Concentration (Ref:SCC260107)

Job Description:
- The appointee will contribute to the delivery of taught postgraduate (TPG) courses in the Master of Arts in Communication (Interactive Media Studies concentration). The role involves teaching postgraduate-level courses related to interactive media, digital communication, and contemporary media practices, with an emphasis on structured learning, critical engagement, and applied understanding.
- Candidates may come from academic or industry backgrounds and are expected to bring relevant theoretical knowledge, professional experience, or practice-based insights into teaching. Responsibilities include course preparation, delivery of lectures and seminars, development and assessment of coursework, and provision of academic guidance to postgraduate students. Depending on the course, teaching may focus on conceptual frameworks, analytical skills, applied projects, or a combination of these approaches.
- The position requires the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, design learning activities appropriate for postgraduate students, and align course content with programme learning outcomes. Familiarity with interactive media environments, digital platforms, or interdisciplinary approaches to communication is desirable.
- The appointee will work collaboratively with programme faculty in course coordination and curriculum development. Opportunities may be available to connect teaching with ongoing research or practice-based initiatives, including the use of course-related data or project outputs, in accordance with institutional guidelines.
Job Requirement:
Track A: Industry Practitioner Track (Teaching conducted primarily in Chinese)

Education
• A Master’s degree or above in Communication, Journalism, Interactive Media, Digital Media, Game Studies, AI-related media fields, Marketing Communication, or related disciplines;
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or other professional disciplines, combined with substantial experience in communication, digital content, AI-enabled media, or game-related industries;
• A doctoral degree (PhD) is preferred but not required.

Professional Experience: 
• Several years of professional experience in media, corporate communication, brand communication, content strategy, AI-driven content, interactive media, or game-related industries;
• Experience in traditional media organizations, digital platforms, game studios, AI content pipelines, or professional service institutions;
• Familiarity with communication practices in corporate, financial, or professional service sectors, including regulatory awareness and risk sensitivity;
• Ability to translate real-world projects—such as AI-assisted content production, game operations, platform analytics, or interactive product workflows—into structured, postgraduate-level teaching content.

Teaching and Professional Skills
• Ability to deliver postgraduate-level teaching in Chinese, including lectures, seminars, and case-based discussions;
• Strong capability in explaining communication strategies, AI/media technologies, game mechanics or live-service practices, and platform logic through practical examples;
• Experience guiding students in applied assignments, projects, or case analyses related to AI media or games;
• Strong sense of responsibility and ability to independently prepare courses, conduct teaching, and support student learning.

Track B: Academic-Oriented Track (Teaching conducted in Chinese, with bilingual academic competence)

Education
• A Master’s degree or above in Communication, Media Studies, Interactive Media, Game Studies, AI and Digital Media, Digital Culture, or related social science fields;
• A doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field is ideally preferred but not required.

Research and Teaching Background
• Solid training in communication or media-related theories and analytical frameworks, with relevance to interactive media, AI-mediated communication, or digital games;
• Familiarity with research approaches addressing AI, algorithms, platforms, games, or human–machine interaction;
• Prior teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level is desirable.

Language Requirements
• Ability to conduct postgraduate-level teaching in Chinese, including lectures, seminars, and student supervision;
• Strong English reading and academic writing skills, with the ability to engage with English-language literature on AI, games, and digital media;
• Ability to support bilingual discussion and academic communication when appropriate.
• Teaching and Academic Skills
• Ability to design and deliver well-structured courses that integrate theory with contemporary practices in AI-enabled media and games;
Experience in coursework design, assessment, and academic mentoring;

Ability to guide postgraduate students in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and research-informed inquiry related to AI and game media;

Strong commitment to teaching quality, academic standards, and student development.

Appointment Terms:
Appointments to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of one semester or one year. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
