Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor
in Music Performance
The
Department of Music is seeking a highly skilled and motivated teaching artist
who offers a unique blend of musical expertise, teaching ability,
organizational skill, and business acumen. The ideal candidate will possess a
terminal degree (master’s or higher) in a related field to music, have a
background working in the music industry, with proven experience in event
management, a diverse professional network, and a demonstrated ability to
navigate the complexities of the music industry and higher education.
Job
Requirements
-
Develop
and implement strategic marketing initiatives to promote SCC missions, Music
Department goals, coordinate faculties, students, events, and special projects,
leveraging both traditional and digital channels.

Cultivate
and maintain strong relationships with music students, and other industry
stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and partnership opportunities.
-
Provide
mentorship and instruction to music students, teaching advanced music courses
and offering guidance in areas such as performance technique, music theory,
composition, music technology, and career development.

Evaluate
student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve their
artistic and academic goals, while also identifying opportunities for
enrichment and advancement.

Collaborate
with faculty members to coordinate student recitals, masterclasses, and other
performance opportunities, showcasing the talents of our music students and
promoting the visibility of the department.

Stay abreast
of current pedagogical trends and best practices in music education,
continuously refining teaching methods and curriculum content to meet the
evolving needs of students and the industry and to participate in scholarly
activities to keep abreast of latest discipline knowledge and pedagogical
development.

Role
extends beyond marketing and business development to encompass the nurturing
and cultivation of aspiring musicians, preparing them for successful careers in
the ever-changing landscape of the music industry.
Required Qualifications
All
applicants should hold a terminal degree in music (Master’s or above) with
extensive working experience in a related discipline or in teaching. Successful
candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate
teaching.
Preference
will be given to candidates who have international teaching experience in a
higher education setting.
Desired Qualifications

Proven track record of in
collaborating with music business, preferably within the music or entertainment
industry.

Excellent communication,
negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain
relationships at all levels.

Ability to develop and
execute comprehensive outreach strategies to promote music education programs
and engage with schools, community centers, and other educational institutions.

Extensive industry
connections and a deep passion for music, along with a commitment to staying
current on industry trends and developments.

Proven ability to expand
possibilities and forge strategic partnerships within the music department,
leveraging external resources and expertise to enhance student learning and
departmental offerings.

Experience in developing
and implementing innovative educational programs, workshops, and events that
enrich the student experience and address the evolving needs of the music
department.

Strong project management
skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and execute
initiatives with precision and efficiency.
Proficiency
in English is required. English is the medium of instruction in the Music
Performance Programme. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with the
successful candidate’s experience and research accomplishments.

Benefits and Appointment Terms
Commencing
salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance.
